Grayson

Grayson is an imaginary soundtrack project, a collection of synthesizer based instrumentals exploring feelings of disconnect and alienation. Originally written as a means to test out new gear, Grayson grew into a very personal project. I wanted to make music with strong melodies, and started tinkering with samples to elevate the sound. Slowly I built a pile of instrumentals that started to take shape as a soundtrack for a film that never was.

Grayson is released by London based label Spun Out of Control.

Loosely inspired by the fictional character of Amanda Grayson Grayson doesn’t sound cold and detached, however, but emotionally lush and warm, thanks to the deployment of a spaceship-load of synths that bubble up in the background before exploding dramatically between your speakers. This is one interstellar trip you’ll want to take! (Spun Out of Control)

Young Belgian composer Borré has worked with Spun Out Of Control before, on the soundtrack to horror film Where The Skin Lies, and his cinematic style is evident here, too. He has a striking gift for melody, with memorable, melancholic synth lines rising frequently from the ambience, and – as in the case of magnificent Side 2 opener ‘The Northern Claw’ – occasionally precipitating an explosion into celebratory, beat-laden “banger” territory. (Bob Fisher, Electronic Sound magazine)
